attached a 5ft rotary cutter with spring slip collar, now can't off the pto!any suggestions?

Oh man that's an aggravation! If you're getting the collar pulled back all the way to remove it then paint or a burr can make removal a problem. There's a discussion somewhere in the archives about the same thing on a mid-pto. Maybe somebody recalls the subject title or what the solutions were. Does it slide back and forth a bit or is it stuck in place? ....

Don't know if it's the same problem, but I used to have this problem all the time with a tractor with an electric pto clutch. To free up the coupling, I would reach under the mower deck and spin the blades a litle by hand both ways. Obvioulsy, safety is the first concern, you only do this with the tractor off. But shaking the blades back and forth freed up the coupling. Good Luck. ....

I didn't think anyone actually responded to these posts but,thank you. I called the Howse dealer but he wasn't much help so,I called my Kioti Dealer.Problem is that due to some of these implements being stored outdoors for sometimes months naturally they begin to rust. Getting back to the point,I removed the rubber seal off the slip collar and discovered the spring lock was ceasing up. Some WD40 and a screwdriver solved the problem. Kioti customer support after the sale, there is no substitute. ....

Sgt1985; The dealer was right. On new equipment paint can be a problem, but if left unpainted they will rust after time. I've got a big old oilcan that my Dad had like you see on the old films where the guy is oiling the big steam locomotive. I keep it full of used oil and a couple times a year just make the rounds of stored equipment including what is stored inside and give anything that has to be kept free, pto couplers, any threaded adjustment points, etc. with a liberal amount of used oil. Real cheap and very effective. Have a great weekend, Frank. ....

When you first clean and remove an attachment if you spray it down (especially couplers and machined hardware) with WD-40 the film that forms will nearly eliminate rust problems. I prefer a spray bottle to the aerisol can because you can refill it much cheaper from a gallon bulk can. Pretty much sprayed down my entire snowthrower before storing it for the summer. ....

Sgt: G'day and how are ya now, as it is said around here. Greetings are appreciated. I'm from the Upper Ottawa Valley, about 3 hours west of Ottawa the city and in the serious country. I visited a school chum in Clifton Springs once (sort of in your neck of the woods) and it's a good-looking region.
Geography does get confusing and places don't seem so far apart on a map. We have Ottawa the city and Ottawa the river, which joins the St. Lawrence at Montreal. The river is my place. Well, it gets more confusing since near Ottawa the city is the Mississippi River. Blink your eyes and you might think you're making real good time. ....
